I think sometime between now and Christmas the Rouse Simmons "The Christmastree Ship" would be a festive discussion. I hear you can still see the trees on her sunken deck, have any of you dove on her and were there other Christmastree ships or Holiday Storms?

: This weeks chat was on the sidewheeler ALPENA, lost somewhere on Lake Michigan. Thanks for showing up and contributing to an interesting conversation. Next weeks chat is open for debate. Some suggestions are:

: W H Gilcher, 301' steel steamer, only two years old when lost on Lake Michigan.

: Northwest Flight 2501, DC4 crashed in Lake Michigan, 50 dead, worst aviation accident in U.S. up to that time.

: Sunken Sisters. Choctaw and Andaste, Gilcher and Western Reserve, Ironsides and Lac La Belle, Titanic and Britanic, you get the picture.

: L.R.DOTY, Almost new ship, sister of the Uganda, has she been found off Wisconsin?

: If you have any suggestions, please post them. It seems like Lake Michigan has been getting the lions share of attention, which is fine with me because of logistics, but we might want to try a couple other lakes to mix it up.
