Well we are way out of my area of specialization but I seem to recall that the Mormons have a substantial genealogical data base. You might try there. Unless you can come up with a ships name. There are a number of hudson river boats that went down in lake Erie. You can link to a number of shipwreck dada bases such as the Save Ontario Shipwrecks data base and try cross referencing by date but if we are looking at a shipwreck population of say 35,000 wrecks I think you can see the problem.
