I dove this weekend with one of the guys from the "other" boat (the whistle-blowers). They were about to go down to the wreck and this liftbag surfaced right next to their boat. They grabbed it and tied it off to the side of their boat away from the thieves boat. The thieves looked around for their treasure, and when they noticed it tied to my buddies boat, they knew the jig was up and left. My buddie and his friend had already notified the authorities, however.
There were three guys down on the wreck and one female who was in their boat waiting (reason why she was not charged). The authorities did not confiscate the boat because there was a lien on it from a bank, I guess, but they did get a whole bunch of really technical gear.
Wonder if there will be an auction? :-)
