Hello Brady,

I did an in-depth write-up on the problem of Loran to GPS conversion which is online at:

http://www.execpc.com/~bbaillod/navi.html

It is non-technical and I'd encourage anyone who dives to read it.

The short answer to your question is "yes". You can convert Loran to GPS and many GPS units will easily to the conversion. However, in most cases the converted numbers will be useless. (Read my article to see why).

My advice to anyone is to NEVER perform a mathematical or electronic conversion from Loran to GPS. The numbers it creates are misleading and useless. The only way to get accurate GPS from Loran is to find the site again with a Loran and then take a GPS reading.

: Is there a way to translate Loran coordinates to GPS?
