: Well Stephen, I am a diver from the old school and knowledge. About to turn 70 years of age and to crippled up to dive any more but have enjoyed the great lakes wrecks since I was 18. During this period, well be for you were born I am sure! There were just a few dedicated wreck divers. All were well known for one reason or another, many have passed away. And most did there own wreck hunting and discovery and took litle credit for doing so. They did for sure recover a few items for there trouble as we all did back then. Now comes the age of Hipocrates and Farces operating under the guise of keepers of the wrecks and self apointed authorities on wrecks they did not discover or even participate in locating.I guess that Websters dictionary would put them in the catagory as phoney "One who pretends to be something he is not" I guess to sum it up in my short time span of great lakes diving I know who there are. safe diving and enjoy the true sport Tim

Tim:
God bless you!
Your concise opinion pretty much sums up the point I've been trying to make all along: there is so much more to know about the Great Lakes than just the same old tired "facts" reiterated by the so-called [local] "experts".
Furthermore, your term "Keepers of the Wreck" is the most ACCURATE description of these "experts" that I have ever heard! In fact, if anyone were to ever doubt the veracity of this term I would merely refer them to those postings in which the upcoming FITZ movie is mentioned- the arrogance and insecurity of those "experts" who imediately dismiss the film as mere rumor or "insignificant" is stunningly obvious.
It is your years of experience that these "experts" should be recording for future generations, NOT the self-serving tripe and baseless criticisms that they seem to constantly regurgitate. For me, I would LOVE to listen to any bit of history you have to offer!
Thank you for taking the time to add your own thoughts into this matter; you are one of the few who aren't afraid to offer an honest insight into my line of inquiry.
I think it's time to rid ourselves of those individuals who behave as if THEY were the "custodians" of Great Lakes history...
