: : Toms last name should be farce

: Well, well, well... isn't this CURIOUS...
: It seems there are a lot more people than just Mr. Williamson who "has an axe to grind".

: Why should Mr. Farnquist's last name be "farce"? What has this man done to deserve such indignities? Being called names based on RUMOR is simply not right, is it? I think we should the man the benefit of the doubt before we criticize him, right?

: You know, it seems to me that Mr. Williamson WAS giving Farnquist the benefit of the doubt... that is, BEFORE he was kicked off this website for having "an axe to grind". Hardly seems fair, does it?

: Then again, who are WE to question the "experts" (who incidently crawl out of the woodwork everytime other "experts" like Farnquist are mentioned)... indeed, your comment alone would be grounds for banishment from this "nexus" of the diving elite (by "diving elite", I refer to 2 basic types: 1) the local author who managed to churn out a few [local] books about the Lakes some 15-odd years ago, and 2) the laborer-turned-dive-expert who regurgitates obscure facts from the [local] book published some 15-odd years ago).

: In the responses I have received (and a few of the responses I obtained from Mr. Williamson), the smug arrogance of those [older] divers whose names have appeared in some [local] book or on TV [PBS] disgust me. I think the allegations that Mr. Williamson has an "axe to grind" should be directed squarely back on those who barred from this site in the first place.
: You dive and take pictures and read the same books I've read... get over yourselves already.

Well Stephen, I am a diver from the old school and knowledge. About to turn 70 years of age and to crippled up to dive any more but have enjoyed the great lakes wrecks since I was 18. During this period, well be for you were born I am sure! There were just a few dedicated wreck divers. All were well known for one reason or another, many have passed away. And most did there own wreck hunting and discovery and took litle credit for doing so. They did for sure recover a few items for there trouble as we all did back then. Now comes the age of Hipocrates and Farces operating under the guise of keepers of the wrecks and self apointed authorities on wrecks they did not discover or even participate in locating.I guess that Websters dictionary would put them in the catagory as phoney "One who pretends to be something he is not" I guess to sum it up in my short time span of great lakes diving I know who there are. safe diving and enjoy the true sport Tim
