Women Cooks Aboard Ships

I am seeking any articles that may exist regarding the practice of women serving on Great Lakes sailing vessels, particularly in the role of ship's cook. The article will be published in the February/March 2003 issue of The Deadeye dive magazine in the Inland Maritime Heritage column. Please e-mail me if you have any information on this issue.
