The Arthur Anderson never sank. It's the Edmund Fitzgerald you are talking about. The Anderson was in the same storm in November, 1975, trying to guide the Fitzgerald to safety, and its captain, Jesse Cooper, turned back into the storm to try to rescue the Fitzgerald crew when it realized the Fitzgerald was missing. To the best of my limited knowledge, the Anderson is still in service. There is lots of information on the Web about the Fitzgerald.
