Actually, the captain of the Anderson was Bernie Cooper.

: Not to be nit picky, but the Captain of the Anderson was Ernie Cooper. They were actually about 12 miles behind the Fitz during the big storm, and were assisting the Fitz with directions as they had lost their radar.

: Two big waves hit the Anderson, estimated at 30-35', it is suspected that it was these two waves that finished off the Fitz, which was already taking on water and had a severe list.
