Most shipwreck victims, that are well below the thermal cline in the deeper portions of the Great Lakes, are destined to stay there, unless otherwise removed. Also, a burned body is will not surface once it has reached the bottom.

The Edmund Fitzgerald is 17 miles north of Whitefish Point, in Lake Superior, in about 540 ft. It is very unlikely, that any victim from the Fitzgerald will naturally surface.

But, I have limited knowledge, and stranger things have known to happen.
