Chris,

I am not particularly familar with Lake Erie shipwrecks but have heard the story and I believe you stumbled on one of those pieces of contemporary diving mythology. There have been a couple of losses in the lake of car ferry's. One of which went down in the Detroit River etc. However, these ferry's carried railroad cars not automobiles. But as the story has been passed around the "car ferry" ended up carrying automobiles, and because the time frame was right they of course became model T's. The account also has been mixed up with other accounts in which ships were lost elswhere (Lake Superior) with automobiles on it.

Unless anyone else has an account I am not familar with I am not sure you will have much luck finding such a ship.

Best of luck,

Scott
: : Can anyone confirm if this is myth or fact ?
: : I have heard from several reputable divers, well as
: : reputable as any diver can be :), that somewhere at the west end of lake erie is a wreck of a medium sized car carrier that sank sometime in the 20's, carrying model T fords from Detroit to NY or somwhere points east. I have heard this story round and about from several sources unkown to each other for going on 15 years now. Anyone know anything about this , ships name , approximate (or exact) location, I have also heard it has been marked several times but shifts cause loss of marker, ???, anyone ....

: Chris,
: I have never heard of such a thing in Lake Erie,
: But if you do get some information of such a thing can you please forward it to me or post it here?
: Thanks.
