: I located what I think might be a leeboard on the east shore of Lake Huron but I need additional info
: as to its actual use, size and type of ship, age, drawings of similar ships etc. The board is 13'x23'
: and about 5"thick with a single pivet? hole towards one end and offcenter and a metal strap for
: a chain or rope at the opposite corner. It is built of oak? strips 8" to 16" wide held together with 1"
: metal spikes several feet long. There are scratch marks on one surface that go in arcs centering
: on the one hole. Please fill me in with any information possible.
Sounds like a CENTREBOARD you have found that likely came from a ship that has broken apart after sinking. (Especially if it is an isolated find) I will try to locate some info for you. I know that Charles Feltner, at some point, was doing some research on centreboards.

DG
