: i have also inquired about this sub and have been chipping away at the information received, questions are what is a&t recovery mean, if video is available where do you get it, finally exact location. since this was a war ship and in a inland lake we should have all possible information of it and the history of both the uss hawk and the wilmette. maybe look back to the original arrivel to the usa and question newspapers that covered the story when the sub arrived and also to it doom. not only is this a great historical event in history everyone should know aout it too, i learned about i while still in school 30 years ago, but no information.

Scroll down to the posts that began on 2-18-99 on this topic. Or, use the search function that Brendan has kindly provided for us. Search on U-BOAT. If you search on UC-97 it will only give you two of the posts. A&T Recovery is the salvage company that located the UC-97. A&T stands for Al and Tarras, the two partners in the business. I don't think the video is for sale anywhere except directly from A&T Recovery and use of the video would have to be negotiated with them. But, if I remember correctly, portions of the video can be seen in the WTTW show,"Lost and Found, Chicago's offshore treasures." WTTW is the PBS station in Chicago. Portions of the UC-97 video is also included in a show by the Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago.
Rumors persist that the UC-97 may still be raised someday, but I am not aware of any current plans for this.
