: We have a patron looking for information on the process of salvaging artifacts. He specifically wants to know the chemical process for getting the gunk off of stuff. Can anyone help us out?

Preserving your artifacts should be focused on keeping the gunk out
of your artifacts in the first place as opposed to getting the gunk
out once its in there. This requires lots of cigarettes. You trade
the cigarettes to the other inmates, and hopefully they don't contaminate
your artifacts with their gunk. Anyone have any idea how many cigarettes
it takes to keep the other inmates off you so you can still wear white to
your wedding? You'd need enough to last you a couple months, I don't think
you'd get more than 60 or 90 days for stealing artifacts off wrecksites in
Michigan...
