What makes a shipwreck fascinating? Is it the number of deaths caused by the sinking? Is it the mystery of the disappearance? Is it someone singing a song about the wreck? Below is my “Top 5” list of wrecks I would most liked found, and why: 1) M&B 2 – It’s about time this one reveals herself. She should be in diving range of everyone this side of a snorkel. I think everyone knows why she sank, but where she sank is a complete mystery. 2) Keystone State – A 300’ side-wheeler sinking at the beginning of the Civil War. Who wouldn’t want to dive that? A friend claims he found her. I pray he did not! Maybe more will be made known this winter. 3) Hattie Wells – Could be the last wreck found in less than 200’ off West Michigan. She’s a big schooner, and could be a heck of a dive. 4) Andaste/Chicora, tie – Personal curiosity/satisfaction 5) John V. Moran – Deep, but closest to home. Maybe I just like ships that sank in ice.

Anybody got a few of their own to share before the New Year? Let us know what you find interesting about your picks.
