As Paul Ehorn has pointed out with his decisive win and ownership of the schooner Bentley, the State of Michigan (as well as other states) have no say in the matter, except under very specific, limited conditons, that meet the requirements of the federal legislation.
Although I have little interest in collecting articfacts, having left compasses, bells, telepgraphs, etc, on shipwrecks......that doessn't include leaving strongboxes without knowing the contents. It is also an interesting part of the story of being a "Shipwreck Hunter". Hope you enjoyed the book.
