I am heading to Whitefish Bay in a week or so, and I was looking for some reliable GPS numbers for the area. I have Loran C for all wrecks, but have since upgraded. My old TD’s have been getting me close, but sometimes those jugs are hard to spot (especially with vision like mine). In researching the area on the Internet, I was really surprised to see that there seems to be very little consistency in coordinates given. Even the great State of Michigan (you know, the guys wanting to make parks out of the preserves) has at least one obvious misprint on their website. In case anybody cares, it is at http://www.michiganpreserves.org/whitefish.htm -This site lists the Osborne and Panther both at exactly 46 51.974’N, 085 05.210’W. I have been on the Osborne before and I don't recall seeing the Panther on top of it! I could be over-reacting, however, one may conclude that published information directly linked to a state that is promoting a "park" should be at least able to provide accurate locations to their own resources they are promoting. And lastly, their authors should be reminded to proof read their publications for accuracy!

Any suggestions for reliable sources would be greatly appreciated. I am mostly interested in accurate GPS for the wrecks of the Superior City, John Cowle, Samuel Mather, Comet and Osborne.

Thanks in advance!
