I am one of the Governor Appointed members - and many come to this meeting to add a voice -and they are heard and sometimes implimented! To assume that the government will deny any access to these funds for their intended use: http://www.gtbup.org/documents/02429'07%20Star.pdf will go against a bill that states otherwise.
Please READ these 2 bills (Please open your mind when reading them with no preconcieved notions or ideas) and see if you fit into the category and submit your name for nomination to serve on the board! Be heard and counted instead of throwing jabs on this board! A policy will need to be developed and you can be in on it. Uh-Oh... Here's your chance to comment and be heard before it goes into effect! I'll bet someone will gripe afterwards that they weren't consulted. Deja vu.
While the idea of privatizing a fund sounds good - nothing has been initiated in the past. You all had the opportunity to do something but didn't. So it took the support of the government to step up to the line and be more responsible...and now you're all running away from that very line where you stood for 10+ years complaining about no support!
Frankly, there are too many private/public organizations taking the heat for poor distributions of money, tax evasions and so on. There are alot of people out there who would love to get their hands on some money to fulfill their agenda. We, the public can't afford this liability. A system is already in place, all they're doing is shuffling some members around and opening the door for more public interaction. Call it a "checks and balances".
They're not getting involved - it's not a conspiracy, they finally listened and are taking notice. They made the first move - so lets see how it works for a few years. If your suspicions are true and revealed, then we can go private. But don't bite the hand that's going to feed you after 10 years of starvation!
