One way to get a general age, is if it is possible to locate the centerboard winch or hole that the chain came trought the deck. If possible reach hand down hole and feel the centerboard strap. If the centerboard strap is attached in a vertical position to the board it is probably pre-civil war. If it is attached in a 45 degree angle to the board it is probably post civil war.
