Was it the USS Cole that had a large hole blown in the side of it? By guys pulling along side with a launch?The sentry on duty was given an M14, 7.62 x51 mm rifle,but no ammo. Maybe the Coast Guard should just go "bang bang bang bang bang"instead of real time,real fire exercise.The thought of a somebody perpetuating an attack of some kind,using a boat over open water,is not beyond the realm of possibility.During WW2,visible shoreline wrecks and prominent rocks,like White Rock in Lake Huron,were used for aerial target practice.Where citizens machinegunned?I never heard of any.Give the Coast Guard some training.If theres problems,they can always suspend exercises,and review procedures.Nothing is permanent.
