A group calling itself Great Lakes Dive Company is claiming to have founda USAF jet in 500 ft of water on Lake Superior. Most interestingly, they are claiming to have found a UFO as well! The Jet, which disappeared in 1953 after being scrambled to investigate a UFO, vanished with two pilots. See http://www.ufodigest.com/news/0906/kinrossobject.html

Great Lakes Dive Company's website www.greatlakesdive.com recently was taken down and their spokesperson Adam Jimenez, appears to be a relative newcomer to the Great Lakes wreckhunting community. I'd welcome any information readers could provide about this story and about the players involved. It smacks of a hoax, but their sidescan images look authentic. The problem is, they claim to have made the images in 500 ft of water in the middle of Lake Superior with a fishfinder. They claim to be working on a Gunilda project and to have been searching for the Cerisoles and Inkerman in 2005 when weather diverted them to search for the jet. They now claim that the Canadian Gov't is barring them from further exploring the site. I don't think the images on their site could have been made as they claim, and it's fascinating to me that such an elaborate hoax was conceived and is being carried out with some success. I'd welcome comments.
