I have been told by one of the people who discovered it missing this past spring that it appeared to have been cut off with a hacksaw. Judging from the amount of corrosion on the cut, they speculated it was cut some time last fall (2005). It is a great shame this bell has been stolen. It was the highlight of the wreck and will be missed for generations to come. I hope they find the person(s) who took it and fully prosecute.
