My maternal grandfather Christopher Smith was master of the L.R.Doty when she was lost on 10/28/1898. I have been trying to locate a clear picture of this ship. I recall that my grandmother had a photo of the Doty at the Soo locks ( a boyhood memory, perhaps incorrect). My children and grandchildren are interested in this bit of hfamily history. Any help will be appreciated.
