Dave, Wood doesn't need to be bouyant enough to float to move around the lake bottom. I once saw a cinder block being tossed about in the surf line like it was nothing. I also know a gentleman who has a large piece of shipwreck in his barn. It washed up in South Haven and weighs about 600 pounds. It resembles the piece of wreckage in front of the White Lake lighthouse(you sent me a picture of it). I would say its from the ROCKAWAY. That means it traveled a bit before it washed up. Even though it was very heavy it was only slightly negatively bouyant, so the currents moved it about. Hope this helps.
