John-- No I am not the Steve from a few years back. I have an interest in this plane, and was told to cue in on this discussion. The DC-4 had four engines. Perhaps, as you suggest, it is more intact, but I believe it is probably broken and scattered. I am also concerned that the discovery would involve the finding of bodies or parts and that would be difficult to deal with. I do not believe there is any commercial value to its discovery.
My comments about A&T recovery were not meant to suggest that they HAD found it, but to say that for almost 20 years they have been involved in the recovery of airplanes that had historical and moneitary interest. If they felt that there was money to be made by the discovery of the DC-4, they would have found it-- that was there primary business.
I am confused by Willie's claims. He does not identify himself-- is he a salvor whose business is shipwrecks, or is he an individual who does this for a hobby? I am plugged in with most all of the "players" both, professional and amateur, in the Lake Michigan shipwreck world and do not know who "Willie" would be. Is Willie just a guy with nothing better to do than sit at his computer and try to "have fun" with the rest of us by making outlandish statements in an attempt to glorify himself?, or is he a guy who is telling the truth, but for some reason unwilling to identify himself? I see that after the challenges posed to him by many people following this "conversation" he has remained silent. Where are you Willie?
Confused,
Steve
