The 28 year old discovery claim of the DC-4 seems to lack supporting evidence. Over the years we have seen hundreds of similar claims of discovery of everything from the UC-97, to other shipwrecks, to airplanes. These claims are simply words without substance. It has been my personal observation, over the years, that the people who attempt to discredit other people’s achievements generally are not true achievers themselves. The group that found the “Ackley,” may have been trying to find the “Chicora,” but did prove they can find shipwrecks, and that is an achievement worth honoring. We have much respect for such efforts and hope they continue their quest and find many more ships.
We at A. and T. Recovery promote discovery and exploration by other people/organizations and have great respect for everyone who participates in the preservation and presentation to the American public of maritime heritage/history.
