Mike, I used a D-8 as my primary light for about 60 dives and only retired it to a spare when I bought a Dive Rite HID canister this past spring. The D-8 was a little bulky, but always performed well and had a good burn time with good batteries. I did have one of their c models prior (4 or 8-I can't remember) and that one had trouble with leaking. The D-8 only leaked once and that was due to operator error (it helps to check the tightness of the bezel before jumping in the water!) It became too bulky to operate with camera gear so I had to switch--otherwise I would still be using it as my primary. Safe Diving, Ron B.
