I read in the Grand Haven Tribune that the CG will be decommissioning another cutter soon. Does anyone know the typical path a decommissioned CG Cutter takes? Are they sold? Scrapped? Mothballed? Is there a group standing by to lobby the Coast Guard to turn this vessel into an artificial reef in the Great Lakes?
This vessel seems to have a relationship to the Duluth area.
The article mentions that the Acacia will follow in 2005. Perhaps it's time for some appropriate questions to be asked now.
