I recently learned that noted Great Lakes author and historian John Greenwood died last week. He was one of the most prolific chroniclers of Great Lakes vessels and had been writing books since the mid 1960s. Many are familiar with his Namesakes and Fleet Histories books as well as Greenwood & Dill's Lake Boats annuals. John was the principal architect of Freshwater Press, which publishes many of the most important books on Great Lakes marine history. His death was unexpected and is a great loss to the Great Lakes maritime community.
