The Steiger Family - Meilen, Switzerland to Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Steiger family members in Meilen c. 1900

I am seeking more information (both descendancy and ancestry) about the Steiger family that emigrated from Meilen, Switzerland to Milwaukee, Wisconsin between 1902 and 1906. Four of Nine children came to the US and numerous descendants now exist in the US and Switzerland. Most of the descendants are now located in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio. Individuals wishing to contribute data or research regarding this family may email Brendon Baillod. See additional family photos at bottom of page.

The Steiger families that came to the United States from Meilen were descended from

Eduard Steiger (c. 1850 - 1910) m. Maria Magdalena Buchmann (c. 1850 - c. 1920) - The Steiger family appear from letters and photos to have been in the Gardening/Green House business in Meilen. Both Eduard and Maria died in Meilen. The Buchmann family may have been from the town of Mettmenstetten, but they lived in Louisiana, USA for several years prior to 1860 and Maria was born there. Little is currently known about Eduard and Maria's ancestry, but the Steiger name appears to have been present in Meilen for a few hundred years.
