I ACCIDENTALLY PUT SOME OF MY LETTER OUT OF ORDER:

: My comments had nothing to do about Paul being right or wrong. It had to do with the heavy-handed waste of taxpayers resources toward legal prosecution, when those resources could go toward REAL shipwreck conservation. There is an enormous resource of divers willing to help with conservation, if the egotistical academics would climb off their high tower of righteousness and start working WITH the diving community instead of always trying to snub them or do battle against them.

: By the way, the fact that Paul won his case (or at least this round) should maybe send a message to those willing to hear that maybe he wasn't all wrong. Or is the court system right only when it is on your side? As I have said before, I don't think either side comes out clean in this battle. You, Mr. Joe Diver, certainly don't with your past flaming in this forum.

:
: : Let's not forget that Paul did take an artifact from a wreck that he didn't legally own and that in this day and age, most of us wouldn't take a porthole off a wreck, even if we were involved in finding it. I doubt that you be rushing to Paul's defense if the State hadn't tried to prosecute him? Just because you don't agree with the State's continued pursuance of Paul, it doesn't make Paul's actions right or desireable.
