George,

A checking of US records indicates that no vessel
by the name of George M. Fox was ever on the Lakes.
Further, no lives were lost when the George M. Cox
struck Rock of Ages Reef at Isle Royale on May 28,1933,
although the vessel was a total loss. It is possible
that your brother was lost in another accident to this
vessel, however she was named Puritan until just before
her loss. Perhaps he was lost in another wreck, as
there were many others on the lakes.

Best of luck,

Brendon Baillod
