Sachum tugboat myths

Does anyone have information on the tugboat Sachum? What I know is that it apparently sunk with all of it's crew without any explanation. It was then raised and put back into service.

In the mid 70's the Sachum was in a accident with a cabin cruiser in which all on board were killed (4) with the exception of both of my parents. My father scaled the towline onto the barge and my mother floated ashore at the Marblehead Lighthouse. Strangely enough, their love of the lake has continued after this ordeal!

They currently live on the water and are building a new home, again, 10 feet from the edge of the lake. They both love water sports and wouldn't leave to save their life... even after the past 2 years of floods and tornados!! ;-)

Though this in itself is an amazing story.... we heard rumors or the folklore that the Sachum was haunted or cursed--- something about the horseshoe over the galley was upside down??? I'm just looking for any info someone might have on the tug and it's history.

Thanks! Tammy (if possible, please email your responses to twade@sunsetgroup.com )
