From the Door County Advocate dated 7/12/2002
"Lost diver may be recovered"
Wheather permitting , a search was scheduled to be conducted in Lake Michigan Thursday, July 11, for the body of a diver who was lost and presumed drowned nearly three years ago. "We do not have a positive identification, but we strongly feel its the diver," said Sheriff Charles Brann. Searchers expect to be able to recover the body of Dirk Kann, 53 of Guttenberg, Iowa. Kann was last seen Sept. 4, 1999, while diving with two companions in 175 feet of water on the wreck of the Lakeland, a freighter that sank in 1924 about 5 miles off the Sturgeon Bay ship Canal in Lake Michigan.
