I've always found Cheboygan to be the best launch point for a straight shot towards the wreck site. You can also launch at St.Ignace or Mackinaw City, but leave some breadcrumbs (GPS headings )in case you have to navigate back through fog or rain.

The Eddy is usually very cold so make sure you have the proper equipment. I experienced a number of first stage free flows on the wreck before I started using Poseidon Odins a few years ago.

There's usually not a buoy on the wreck, but there has been a line run from one mast to the other at the crow's nest level which makes for interesting sonar readings.

Have a great dive!

: Hope to dive the Newell Eddy this summer. Can anyone suggest the best launch site. I think the closest is in Cheboygan and understand there to be a couple of launches, munincipal and county. Or is there anything else allowing a closer launch??
