Steve,

The info. you're looking for is available in our online version of Dave Swayze's shipwreck database. Go to www.ghost-ships.org/databases.asp, choose the David Swayze wrecklist and type in Westmoreland. She's a very well-known wreck that many people have researched because of the legends concerning the amount of $$ she was carrying. Most sources agree that she was located and had extensive salvage done in the 1800s.

: Does anyone have information concerning the sinking of the steamer Westmoreland in Mar of 1865. The location was near Sleeping Bear Point in Lake Michigan. I am looking for any information as to how it sunk, lives lost and what type of cargo she had on board.

: Thanks for your time!
