I meant to mention that this wreck is well known and was surveyed and identified many years ago. Contact Steve Harold from the Manistee County Historical Society for more info.

: Hi Dave,

: There's a good write-up on this wreck in Steve Harold's book Shipwrecks of the Sleeping Bear.

: : This summer I climbed up to Pyramid Point overlook, at Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore Park. Spectacular view of the Manitou's and Foxes. you can see the lighthouses and even the wreck of the Francisco Moranzen. Any way near the south base of the great dune is a large old dark area of what appears to be some wooden remains. The bank of the dune was to steep to investigate. Does any one know if any old wooden wrecks might be in the shallows of Pyramid Point?
