Stan,
Great job and thank you for sharing your find. Can you give us an approximate depth, and zebra report? The zebras seem to be getting deeper and deeper, but they sure do clean up the water.

: On July 30, 2003 I discovered the wreck of the Kyle Spangler. The two-masted schooner was built in 1856 at Black River, Ohio with dimensions of 130'7x26'x11', and 349.5 gross tons. The vessel was built by William Jones who was a member of the famous Jones Shipbuilding Co. The Kyle Spangler has also been listed by the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary/NOAA as a vessel of potential national historic significance.

: The Spangler was upbound on Nov, 7, 1860 when a collision occured with the downbound schooner Racine. The location of the collision was reported between Middle Island and Thunder Bay Island in Lake Huron.

: Except for the collision gash on the starboard bow, the wreck is intact with both masts standing complete with crow's nests. The cabin is also intact, in which many artifacts were discovered, including the ship's compass. With visibility often exceeding fifty feet, diving the Spangler has been an awesome experience.

: Thaddius Bedford and I spent the remainder of the diving season filming and documenting the shipwreck. We are presently putting together a show for the upcoming off season.
