Brendon:

I prefer the Snitz forum because I'm used to it. I check out the scubaboard and The Deco Stop (http://www.thedecostop.com/)every day. Having so many different categories is easy to manage if you have the feature that allows you to "view new posts" which brings up only those posts that have been posted since your last visit (uses cookies).

Plus it makes it easy to ignore some entire categories if you're not interested. (Hey, you could have a whole area where Steve can argue with himself about a Fitzgerald movie and the rest of us can ignore him. Now there's an idea!)
;-)
The one "bad" thing about your current format is that new or recent posts don't move to the top so if someone answers a six month old question way down at the bottom of the board, no one may notice it.

That's my vote!

: All,

: I just implemented two types of newsgroups on test sites. I'd appreciate your comments after you check them out. Both have positives and negatives.

: The first is a Frontpage Discussion Web like the one used by Neil Schultiess on Boatnerd. It is nice because it doesn't require a login and shows all the posts in an index. It is very easy to use and has low overhead. My test site is at http://www.baillod.com/wreckboard/

: The second is a Snitz Forum like the one used by the AGLMH and some tech diving sites. It is nice because it breaks the posts down by topics, but requires a login and a bit of clicking to get down to the messages. My test URL is http://www.baillod.com/shipwreck/wreckforums/

: Let me know what you think. I may end up leaving them both up.
