I've heard at least three accounts of people finding the PM18, ranging from Max Nohl to Dick Race to Kent Bellrichard. However, none of these accounts were ever substantiated, all are second hand and I'm very suspicious of them.

This vessel is too far from shore and too deep to have interested many people and the technology to ID deep wrecks hasn't existed until recently. I believe a serious community effort should be made to locate her and video her.

: Brendon,
: I believe I read in Pete Ceasars book on the boat, that she was claimed found in deep(400'+) water. Check the book out, its pretty wild!
: I believe the book mentions the wreck hunters name.
: On another note, if you hear of an ELAC or mag for sale, let me know. You know I'd be willing to share!

: : Has anyone ever done any serious searching for the Pere Marquette 18? I've talked with a lot of people who have heard that this or that person once looked for her, but nobody I've ever talked to has actually gone out there. It's quite a boat ride to the search area and contrary to popular belief the location of her foundering is not known with any great degree of accuracy. Even the best accounts state simply that she went down 19 miles off Sheboygan. I would think that someone with an ELAC or a good mag could go out in the Spring and find her or her trail of boxcars with a few days of effort.
