The fact is, my company doesn't operate under the so-called "Hollywood system", which means that we are solely responsible for EVERY ASPECT of this movie's production. It also means that we have to find the MONEY to produce it!
I don't like throwing budget quotes around, but if it helps you and everyone else here understand the seemingly insurmountable odds of our project, I will: our most-recent budget estimate for this movie is just over $88 million dollars.
Now, in Hollywood, the "lowest budget" for a feature is just over $65 million. During the time I lived in Los Angeles, I was told by two studio "executives" that this film could NOT be made for less than $120 million!
Complications notwithstanding, I think we're doing pretty good.
