Everyone:
Your responses to my inflammatory remarks have provided me with some very useful information. I have seen the underlying IGNORANCE of a few who profess to be "experts" as well as the surprisingly MATURE attitude of those I had assumed were "ignorant". You see, a person who is threatened and forced to anger typically responds in a fashion that more-closely corresponds to his/ her true nature.
That said, let me expound on two CRITICAL POINTS:
1) the overwhelming majority of people who expressed their thoughts about a FITZGERALD movie were INDIFFERENT as to whether it was produced or not;
2) WITHOUT EXCEPTION, across the board, EVERYONE indicated an absolute unwillingness to assist in the production of the film EVEN THOUGH the majority of them insisted they were "shipwreck buffs".
Why? Mr. Williamson is a native of Michigan who's been to Hollywood and back again. Why shouldn't we support his project??
Do you honestly believe that "Hollywood" would never be interested in a film about the FITZGERALD (or ANY ship)? Think again.
As I see it, we can either let "Hollywood" rewrite our maritime history OR we can stop bitching amongst ourselves and support this film.
