My last posting triggered a cascade of not-so-nice E-mails; as such, perhaps further clarification of my intent is needed.
Those authors (Clary, Stonehouse, etc.) who have written books about the Great Lakes and its lore are NOT "hacks" NOR should their respective literary works be dismissed as "mere tripe". I did not intend to convey such an attitude within the body of my posting.
That being said, however, I must also say that I stand behind my words. I am not so fickle that the whimsy of the few (who feel the need to send me profane e-mail) influence my most fundamental beliefs. Not only did those people miss the point of my posting but they also fail to see the absolute IRONY of their reaction to it.
For the rest, please know that a "hack" is a "hack"... and only those who know the difference between the two understand the point I was attempting to make.
