If you have not already read the book, Iron Clad Legacy, USS Monitor, by Gary Gentile. Then now is a good time. Its a great book about his 9 year battle with NOAA and other governmental Beaurocracies to simply dive and photograph the wreck. I dont have nearly all the facts here, but the opinion I gather so far is yes, I too am happy to see Mr. Ehorn fighting and winning against the government over such an arbitrary case. But, does an 80,000$ fine not dissuade further artifact theft? I beleive they are both strong issues. If and when I get to the Rosinco some day, I would like to see a good portion of it remaining there!
