Ross,

I've located my clips on the Lac La Belle. They are too long to type up. I have both the Milwaukee Sentinel and Chicago Tribune accounts of her loss. They include statements of survivors and crew and go on for three or four days after the accident. The initial report was front page and ran a few columns.

I also have a photo of the Lac La Belle as well as an excellent Erik Heyl line drawing based on the photo.

: Brendon,
: I might take you up on that offer in the future. I was talking with a friend about IRONSIDES and the LAC LA BELLE came up, and I became curious about her disposition. Do you have any images of her?

: Ross

: :Ross: she has not been located and is believed by all accounts to lie in rather deep water. I have a good set of news micros on her loss if you're interested.

: : : Does anybody know if the steamer LAC LA BELLE has been located? She sank off Racine Wis. in 1872. She was sister ship to the steamer IRONSIDES, which now resides off Grand Haven MI.
