: I think the shot you are referring to is on the North Shore . . . unfortunately I am not exactly sure where. I have wondered about it for years and I think what you are looking at is a shot of the remains of either the Robert Fryer or perhaps the Saint Andrew, or something like that. The Fryer is on B Island of the Welcome Islands group. It has recieved a lot of salvage as the water is shallow and the wreck burned. More scrap metal salvaging, this could be a pre salvage photo of one of these wrecks. Unfortunately, the there is nothing to hint at the location in the photo.

: : : That picture has fascinated me for years. However, I am fairly sure that it was not taken at Isle Royale. I've seen other versions of that image and it was attributed to a wreck at another location, but I don't recall which one. In any event, I believe the attribution to Isle Royale is in error.

Interesting-I checked the Swaye file-nothing on Fryer. The Mansfield file had a Fryer involved in a colislion but recovered. On the Great Lakes Bowling Green File-two vessels of the name-one was
propeller steamer-dismantled in 1930. The other
was a two masted schooner which was abanonded in
