Hi Jonathan,
Since you live in Chicago, you may want to join the Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in shipwrecks and maritime history. Meetings are held the last Wednesday of each month, 7pm, at the Shedd Aquarium. Enter through the North Aquatic Sciences entrance. There is usually plenty of metered parking available on Solidarity Dr. The January 29 meeting will feature guest speaker Fred Neuschel. Fred is Vice President of the Association for Great Lakes Maritime History and author of many articles and the book, "August and Herman Schuenemann, Tree Captains of Lake Michigan."
