Now online: Search a database of over 39,000 references to newspaper articles about life on the Great Lakes--including launching ships, losing ships, and everything in between. The articles appeared in the Door County Advocate from 1862 through 1949.

The project is a joint effort between the Wisconsin Underwater Archaeology Association, the Wisconsin Historical Society, and the University of Wisconsin SeaGrant Program. The database was compiled by WUAA member Russ Leitz, and can be accessed at: http://www.seagrant.wisc.edu/shipwrecks/dcAdvocate/index.html

The database can also be accessed through the Wisconsin Historical Society's shipwreck website: http://www.seagrant.wisc.edu/shipwrecks/
