: If you consider ships that left port and were never seen again, try "In Search Of" on the History channel. It was on our local channel tonight 10/25/00-6 to 7 p.m. This Great Lakes Triangle followed the Bermuda Triangle. More have disappeared up there in a smaller area. For planes they now require constant communications, and if a 10 second silence, planes are now scrabbled to aid. Hope it helps.

: There is a book called Ghost Ships of the Great Lakes, by Boyer Dwight, published in 1968. But you probably already have that information.
: : : : If anyone has any info on ghost ships of the Great Lakes, and particularly of Lake Michigan, I would love to hear about them. Please e-mail me at ben_winters@hotmail.com if you know of any good ghost tales or can direct me to find some.

: : : In response to Ghost Ships/Great Lakes. Iam from the Milwaukee area. My great grandfather Capt.John (Jack) of Milwaukee and my great uncle Capt.Jerimiah (Jerry) of Erie,Pa were involved with quite a few rescues. The most noted was the Marquette & Bessemer #2(car ferry) lost all hands.See book Ghost ships of the Great Lakes-Knives in the Lifeboat (Chapter 10). I have other articles & newspaper clippings of the tragic event that happened December 9,1909.
