I called today and confirmed that tickets will be available at the door for this shipwreck show in Chicago. These guys recently spoke at my dive club and I strongly recommend their shows.

This Sunday Nov. 12 at the Shedd Aquarium, at 3-5pm and again at 7-9pm will be presented the following $15 event. Tickets are still available for both shows. The Bears are at Buffalo this Sunday so parking/traffic won't be a problem.

The Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago Presents: Tragic Tales of Lake Michigan Shipwrecks

Chicago is well-known for having world-class museums. Ironically, one of the city's largest museums is also its least known--it lies just beyond Lake Shore Drive and beneath the waves of Lake Michigan. For more than a century, the cold fresh waters of the lake have preserved many of the ships that came to their final resting place just a few miles and, in some cases, just a few hundred feet short of safe harbor. Join the Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago for this slide and video presentation of prominent Lake Michigan shipwrecks, including: the heroic rescue of the crew from the sinking inferno of the steamer George Morley, the tragic and unimaginable sinking of the Motorship Material Service barge and the unanswered questions of the "Zion Mystery Wreck." Also featured will be the most recent additions to Chicago’s underwater museum. For many years, the object often referred to as “that thing in the Chicago River” defied all attempts to identify it. At long last, the purpose and identity of the Tym Barge has been revealed. Come and hear the story of this experimental vessel and its relocation to the depths of Lake Michigan. You'll also learn about the recent sinking of the Holly Barge, which will be used as an artificial reef and training site for scuba divers. Included in the presentation will be a live performance by the "Balladeer of the Great Lakes," Lee Murdock. Mr. Murdock is well-known around the lakes for his popular original works and excellent renditions of classic folk songs.
